Russel Berman – Managing Director
Russel completed his tertiary education at the University of Cape Town, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Economics.
From 2000 to 2002, Russel was employed by Healthbridge (Pty) Ltd, a joint venture of Discovery Health, Medscheme and Dimension Data. Thereafter Russel joined Investec Private Bank in Cape Town in the capacity of private banker. Russel was one of the top 3 consultants in the country exceeding sales and revenue targets for 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Russel joined Spark ATM Systems in 2006 in the capacity of Sales Director. He managed a team of national Sales Executives, Account Managers and Business Developers who are responsible for developing customer relationships in their particular region.
In November 2021, Russel was promoted to Managing Director.
Gary Cope – Financial Director
Gary grew up in Cape Town, completed his Bachelor of Business Science Honours at UCT with a distinction in Accounting. He went on to complete his Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting the following year and his accounting articles at KPMG in Cape Town thereafter. Gary qualified as CA SA in 2012 with a first time pass.
He has a solid history of career performance from starting out after articles as a financial manager at a Cape Town based shipbuilder and growing into the role of Group Finance Director before deciding to join Spark.
Gary joined the Spark ATM Systems Exco team as the Finance Executive in 2016 and was promoted to the role of Financial Director in November 2021. His talent lies in bringing focus to the organization, heading up a strong control environment, providing accurate reports and dynamic financial models that influence company decision making and driving compliance with both local and US listed company requirements. As strong technically as he is practical in his approach Gary looks after the Financial Accounting, Tax, Reporting, Management and Financial Operations of the business with a very steady hand on the tiller through Spark’s continued growth.
Buks Hanekom – Technology Manager
Buks studied a BSC in Computer Science before joining BOE as a Systems Developer. He then worked for Blue Label Telecoms for eight years in Systems Development and joined Spark just after the company started trading in 2007.
Buks has been responsible for developing and managing Spark’s in-house ATM network management and monitoring software suite, SparkPro, and continues to grow, develop and innovate the system on a daily basis.
Ryan Tzamtzis – Operations Executive
Ryan joined Spark in March 2011 to run the Human Resources function. He has a post-graduate degree in Human Resources Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling. Ryan has over 10 years of Human Resource Management experience and also has experience in HR software design and development.
Ryan is also responsible for the Operations at Spark ATM, overseeing the company’s national network of ATM operations, including installations, maintenance, repairs and the customer support contact centre.
